Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America
No other breed offers as many marketing opportunities as the Texas Longhorn. Besides the seedstock market for both new and established breeders, there is also a ready market for commercial bulls and commercial females. Texas Longhorns are also in demand as roping and cutting stock. The market for Texas Longhorn naturally  lean beef has expanded to both individual and restaurant use. And lets not
forget what got us here in the first place: history and nostalgia. This is the appealing factor for the hobbyist and weekend rancher.
Seedstock
This is the practical reason to own a registered herd. The seedstock producer furnishes many new breeders with the start-up stock they require. He also provides other seedstock producers with a new genetic pool.
Commercial Bulls & Commercial Females
Texas Longhorn bulls are the bull of choice for first-calf heifers. The commercial cattleman knows that lower birth weight calves put less stress on the mothers. It also gives him a live calf to sell at market the first time out. Many cattlemen also utilize the inherited gentics of the Texas Longhorn female with their breed of bull to produce vigorous and profitable calves for the market.
Recreational Stock & Lean Beef
There is a ready market for Texas Longhorns as both roping and cutting stock. The cattle are quick, agile, and durable. Also, today's health concious consumer is demanding  leaner  beef,  so  many  Texas  Longhorn  breeders have found a ready
market for the beef they produce.
Tradition & Nostalgia
The Texas Longhorn is the living symbol of the Old West. Wherever the western influence is desired - front pasture, cattle drive, or tourist attraction - you'll find a demand for this magnificent breed
Horns & Hides
The Texas Longhorn is valuable even after it has outlived its usefulness as a beef animal. Top dollars are paid for the horns, skulls, and mounts that are used in the popular Southwestern decor of many homes and businesses.
